Meet Euniter Jemutai, working as a Regional Sales Manager at Uzima Chicken Ltd in Kenya.

1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and your role at Uzima Chicken?

My name is Euniter Jemutai, and I’m a Regional Sales Manager at Uzima Chicken Kenya. I lead regional sales operations through strategic planning, team development, and market expansion. I manage and mentor our sales team, oversee customer support and training, and build strong partnerships to strengthen our presence and impact in the community.

2. How long have you been working with Uzima?

I have been working for 3 years.

3. What does Uzima’s mission (making smallholder farmers healthier and wealthier) mean to you personally?

Our mission is deeply important, as it goes beyond just business. It’s about purpose and impact, being part of this goal means my work revolves around creating a real, tangible impact in the lives of smallholder farmers by giving them access to high quality chicks, technical support and training. As a regional sales Manager, I see every sale not just as a transaction but as an opportunity to impact lives by reducing poverty and improving nutrition in the communities. This mission always reminds me that my success ,our success is measured not only in numbers but in the lives we help transform.

4. Can you share a proud moment when you saw this mission come to life through your work?

One of my proudest moments as a Regional Sales Manager was seeing a transformation of women and youth Agents in the rural village set up who had never raised day old chicks before and had not had it as a business. Through consistent training, follow up and technical support from my team, they not only achieved high survival rates but also began generating steady income from their sales. Most have been able to pay school fees, feed their families, build homes and scale up their poultry businesses.Watching their confidence grow and hearing them say “This has changed my life” is a powerful reminder of why we do our work. It’s  affirmation that  beyond targets and sales figures, our real impact is in the lives of people we serve.

5. What do you enjoy most about leading your team?

What stands out the most is  leading a team united by purpose and passion. It’s so fulfilling to rally, mentor and grow a team while driving a meaningful impact on people who feed the world. I love seeing my team develop confidence, results oriented with a growth mindset. It’s fulfilling to lead a team that is passionate, resilient and committed to not just chasing numbers but chasing impact.

6. As a sales team leader, how do you keep your team motivated, especially during challenges?

  • Reconnecting them to our purpose. During tough times, I remind them we’re not just selling—we’re changing lives. Sharing real agent success stories and small wins helps us stay aligned to our mission and keeps motivation strong beyond just the numbers.
  • Keeping the team spirit strong, (we lean onto team work, sharing challenges, best practices and humor.)
  • Setting short term achievable goals. Instead of only focusing on the  long term goals  this time i break targets down  into small  rocks .weekly, daily which feel easily achievable. Success breeds confidence.
  • Leading with resilience, optimism, and a strong work ethic. During challenges, I check in more often—not just on performance, but on how they’re feeling. Sometimes, what matters most is listening and offering encouragement

7. What’s one lesson you’ve learned on the job that has shaped your leadership?

I’ve learned that true leadership is about lifting people, not just hitting targets. People drive performance and impact. When I shifted my focus from managing results to leading with empathy, active listening, clear communication, and fostering a safe, growth-oriented team culture, I saw my team become more motivated, resilient, and committed—leading to even stronger results.

8. What advice would you give to a new supervisor or team member joining Uzima?

To a new Supervisor-Always lead with purpose not position. Remember why we do what we do, the “WHY” will guide  your decisions and make your work and team meaningful.Your Team and Customers are your greatest asset; listen, show up, support, build trust  and grow with them.

To a  new team member-You are not just joining a company but a mission too. Stay connected and you will find success and fulfillment here.

9. Can you share a skill/hobby you have that people might not know?

Outside work, I love a good  adventure  whether  it’s hiking, travelling or trying something new. I am also into cooking. It’s my way  to unwind and get creative especially when I’m experimenting with new recipes or sharing food with family and friends. Both help me reset and keep things fun outside my day to day hustle.

10. Do you have a favorite farm visit memory or funny field moment?

One of my most memorable moments was during a farm visit to one local poultry group. I was there for training and the session went beyond learning. At the end  they sang an appreciation song tying in our company’s mission and products in a fun and uplifting way. It reminded me how powerful it is to mix knowledge with heart.

11. If you had to describe Uzima in one word, what would it be, and why?

“Community” Uzima Chicken is more than a workplace; it’s a community with a shared purpose. We are a network of people -sales team agents and smallholder farmers connected by a mission bigger than ourselves; To make farmers healthier and wealthier.
