Uzima Chicken Uganda is a social enterprise focused on making smallholder farmers healthier and wealthier. Uzima Chicken distributes an improved breed of chicken that is 4x more productive than local breeds in terms of egg and meat production, while requiring the same level of management and care as the local chicken. Rearing a flock of 10 improved breed chickens can generate a 270,000 UGX net profit uplift for a smallholder family. With Uzima’s bird, rural households in Uganda can build income resilience, confidently pay for their children’s school fees, and introduce larger volumes of animal protein into their daily diets.

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Dispatch Officer to join our Operations Department. In this role, you will coordinate day-old chick deliveries, ensuring proper preparation of delivery lists and documentation, and providing real-time updates during dispatch. The role supports smooth customer deliveries, manages driver conduct during dispatch, and enhances post-delivery reporting to improve service quality. You will collaborate closely with all other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch Coordination (60%)
- Prepare delivery lists from agents cleared and fully paid by Sales Admins
- Share delivery routes and schedules with drivers, ensuring they follow the planned sequence of drop-offs.
- Coordinate with the hatchery team for proper loading and documentation.
- Ensure proper hand-off of delivery documents such as vaccination charts, invoices and acknowledgement forms.
- Monitor dispatch progress and address incidents that may delay or disrupt delivery.
- DOC Delivery (30%)
- Follow up with drivers to confirm timely and safe delivery of DOCs to agents.
- Provide real-time updates to stakeholders (Sales, Finance, Operations) during deliveries.
- Collect and verify signed delivery documents from drivers and update order fulfillment records.
- Prepare post-delivery reports, highlighting exceptions and suggesting improvements.
- Liaise with Regional Sales Managers to confirm delivery outcomes and customer satisfaction.
- Delivery drivers Management (10%)
- Train drivers on DOC handling and customer care standards using Uzima’s training guidelines.
- Supervise driver behavior during deliveries to ensure respectful customer service.
- Support drivers in resolving on-route delivery challenges.
- Provide feedback on driver performance to guide training needs.
Key KPIs:
- Optimise DOC delivery cost
- Maintain a 95% driver compliance rate with Uzima protocols, measured through audits and quality checks.
- Maintain 95% customer satisfaction rate across dispatch operations.
- Ensure 95%+ of clients experience less than 2% first-week mortality for DOCs delivered.
Requirement Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in logistics, distribution, or agricultural supply chains. (poultry experience is an added advantage).
- Strong understanding of last-mile delivery operations and customer service principles.
- Ability to work with delivery route planning tools, GPS tracking systems, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to engage with drivers, agents, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in time-sensitive situations.
- Ability to supervise, train, and enforce compliance among drivers.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality service delivery.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, or public holidays depending on dispatch schedules.

The Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing marketing strategies that promote Uzima Chicken’s brand, products, and services. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, creative, and collaborative, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making and brand integrity. They will work closely with sales, field teams, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, market presence, and growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing Program Management
- Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns in collaboration with the Sales team to promote Uzima Chicken’s offerings and increase Agent loyalty.
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify new opportunities for promotion, growth, and customer engagement.
- Analyze market trends, campaign performance, and insights to optimize marketing strategies.
- Prepare detailed reports on marketing activities, insights, and improvements required.
- Collaborate with sales and distribution teams to generate leads and develop marketing materials, including collateral, presentations, and promotional resources, for agents, distributors, and agro-vet partners.
- Organize, coordinate, and support events, workshops, and promotional activities including farmer training days and field events in rural areas and facilitate training sessions for field staff and partners on marketing best practices to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure marketing materials are distributed effectively.
- Assist in the development of marketing budgets and ensure campaigns stay within allocated resources.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns using analytics tools, making adjustments as necessary.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities.
Social Media Management
- Create audience-focused, engaging social media content across platforms in order to generate leads, educate farmers, and raise awareness across stakeholders
- Manage the social media calendar to ensure consistent and engaging content delivery.
- Manage digital advertising efforts, including paid social media campaigns and online promotions.
- Measure and report on effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns.
External Communications
- Provide editorial guidance, editing, and proofreading to ensure all external communications align with Uzima Chicken’s brand guidelines.
- Monitor and benchmark Uzima Chicken’s marketing communications against competitors to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Build and enhance Uzima Chicken’s brand identity within the Rwandan market.
- Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all marketing channels and content.
- Manage relationships with media outlets, influencers, and community organizations.
- Protect and uphold the integrity of the Uzima Chicken brand in all external communications.
- Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with internal teams and external partners.
Other
- Provide training and mentorship to junior team members or interns where applicable.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and inform future strategies.
- Perform any other duties related to marketing, communications, and brand promotion as assigned by management.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Agribusiness, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, preferably within the agricultural industry.
- Strong understanding of rural and peri-urban markets in Rwanda.
- Experience in developing and executing marketing campaigns.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media, and content development.
- Ability to travel frequently within the country for content creation, especially to rural and farming communities.
- A passion for agriculture, rural development, and farmer empowerment.
- Results-driven, with a focus on metrics and performance management.
- The ability to work with cross-cultural and cross-functional teams, adapting to an ever-changing environment.

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Vehicle Mechanic to join our operations department . In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles, including cold trucks and DOC delivery trucks. The role focuses on timely preventive maintenance, efficient use and tracking of spare parts, and accurate reporting. The mechanic ensures all vehicles are in safe, roadworthy condition to support smooth operations and reduce downtime, while also supporting communication with the Logistics Supervisor and performing other assigned duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Timely Preventive Maintenance and Repairs (70%)
- Conduct scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance on all fleet vehicles to minimize breakdowns.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration faults for both diesel and petrol engines.
- Perform pre-trip inspections and support resolution of driver-reported issues before vehicle dispatch.
- Ensure cold trucks and DOC delivery trucks are roadworthy and meet specific operational standards (e.g., temperature control, good mechanical conditions).
- Respond to emergency breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime.
Inventory Management (20%)
- Monitor usage of spare parts and maintenance tools, ensuring proper storage and accountability.
- Raise timely requests for parts and materials to avoid service delays.
- Track and update stock levels of critical spares, lubricants, and repair materials.
- Support cost-efficient usage of materials by avoiding wastage and reporting recurring faults for long-term solutions.
Communication and Reporting (10%)
- Maintain accurate service logs for each vehicle, detailing repairs, parts used, and time spent.
- Submit daily or weekly maintenance reports to the Logistics Supervisor.
- Communicate urgent maintenance needs or delays to the relevant supervisors.
- Participate in regular fleet meetings and provide technical insights to improve vehicle performance.
Other Duties
- Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Logistics Supervisor .
Requirement Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Automotive Mechanics or Motor Vehicle Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience handling mixed fleets, including cold trucks and delivery vehicles.
- Experience with refrigeration systems and diesel engines is a strong advantage.
- A valid driver’s license is an added advantage.

- Mechanical and diagnostic expertise.
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
- Good record-keeping and reporting discipline.
- Honest, proactive, and safety-conscious.
