Meet Joshua Kasiriivu, working as a Regional Sales Manager at Uzima Chicken Ltd in Uganda.

1. Can you briefly introduce yourself and your role at Uzima Chicken?

My name is Joshua Kasiriivu and my current position is Regional Sales Manager for Northern Uganda under the sales Department.

2. How long have you been working with Uzima?

I have been working at Uzima chicken Uganda since March 14, 2020 as an SR (District coordinator by then).Which means I have completed 5 years with the company.

3. What does Uzima’s mission (making smallholder farmers healthier and wealthier) mean to you personally?

Purpose, It means delivering solutions to farmers, enabling national and community growth and impacting lives.

4. What’s the biggest impact you believe your team has made towards driving Uzima’s mission?

In the beginning, most of the districts had not adopted and there was a great need for making the product reach all those areas. So we had to do massive community awareness through several platforms, meetings, launched the product in several Districts and as per now, We have reached 1,200,000+ DOCs sales between Jan 2024 and June 2025, grew to 750+ active agents ensuring small holder farmers have access to quality month old chicken, technical advice and support within the Acholi, WestNile and Bunyoro areas in the Northern region of Uganda.

5. What do you enjoy most about leading your team?

Seeing my team growing, some SRs stepping up into Area Sales Manager roles, others becoming better at solving problems, helping and growing farmers etc. I enjoy guiding them through challenges, then watching them grow and some of them begin leading others, growing their confidence. With this I am sure through my leadership they are empowered.

6. How do you keep your team motivated, especially during challenges?

Engaging them in brainstorming solutions, breaking challenges into goals in case they are overwhelmed, this emphasizes ownership and helps in problem solving.

7. What’s one lesson you’ve learned on the job that has shaped your leadership?

One of the greatest lessons I have learned at Uzima chicken is clear communication. It’s important to communicate the vision and strategy clearly, and also be able to give clear feedback. It has helped me influence, inspire and keep the team focused on our purpose.

8. If you had to describe Uzima in one word, what would it be, and why?Impactbecause Uzima chicken is not just about business. It’s about transforming lives every single day.
